Be Your BEST

We all want to be our best. I know you do. We’re already our BEST, but sometimes our BEST isn’t good enough… or we want better than our BEST. But we all got to work with what we got. The goal is to use our BEST to have the best life. Are you with me?

Our BEST is who we are. Our (B)ody, (E)motion, (S)pirit and (T)hought. Our best is always going to fluctuate from day-to-day, often moment-to-moment. What matters is that each one is able to support our DAREs (Desire-Action-Results-Experience) in an intentionally integrated way.

BODY

Maybe it’s physically going somewhere, or taking the time to do “the thing.” This is your “skin in the game.” It’s the time and the effort you take to make something possible. Driving to work… taking that course… showing up at that recital… just getting out of bed… it’s showing up. Action is often created through the body.

EMOTION

This is the drive, the motivation to take the action when you’re in the mood… and it’s the determination to keep going when you’re not.

SPIRIT

This is a lot like emotion, but it’s different. They’re tied together. This is your sense of purpose, your “rightness” … that sense that “doing the thing” is the thing you should be doing (Even in the face of adversity).

THOUGHT

This is your deepest driver. What are you thinking? What are you telling yourself? Do you believe in yourself? Do you believe these big dreams are even possible? Is this your voice? Or the echos of somebody else’s?

Even on those tough days, when saying “I’ve got this” seems to be a hollow declaration… remind yourself this:

“I’m doing the BEST that I can.”
